Prepare for a lifetime experience. A unique geological phenomenon that would be worth visiting if it was just for the natural beauty of it, but the thing is that on top of those rocks exist wonderful monasteries. Monasteries that look like impossible buildings (like an Esser’s drawing), which continue right from where the rock ends.
But they‘re very real, standing there suspended in time, in space floating above what is “normal” or “real”.
We have an almost 90-minute ride till we get to Meteora.
During this time your driver will tell you a lot about Volos, Greece and of course Meteora.
Almost every time we make a stop at a local icon workshop, which is also quite an experience. It is the best one in the area (and the cheapest at the same time) and provides the most descent WC in the area (going to the restroom might become a major issue somedays).
We stay there around 10-20 minutes and then it is time to go up to the Monasteries
Agios Stefanos Monastery is the only monastery that doesn't have any steps at all. (actually about 15steps ) We make lots of stops every now and then for you for photo ops.
Our drivers know a lot of spots so that you can take pictures of the unique scenery from every possible angle.
The Great Meteoron Monastery is an outstanding choice as well.The biggest of them all with more than 7 different rooms to visit and an incredible view. (400 steps are involved here though)
Varlaam Monastery (closed on Thursdays and Fridays) is the one with the best view of them all, is also an excellent choice.
Of course, all of the open monasteries are good choices.
Many people prefer not to take all those monastery steps (100-400 depending on the monastery) if that's the case we spend more time on taking photos.
The scenery is outstanding and till now for every passenger we 've transferred an experience of a lifetime.

Before we leave if you feel hungry it is time to visit one of the local restaurants. The food is divine! We can recommend some of the best ones especially if you are a foodie or want to get an insight into local gastronomy.
If you take a multi-day tour you can try different restaurants and cafes !
First of all, you have the opportunity to visit all of the monasteries since time is not an issue at all. Furthermore, you can also visit some of the nearby monasteries and churches.
Additionally, you can see the sunset of Meteora which is just different!
You can also visit the prehistoric cave of Theopetra a prehistoric treasure since it’s the place where the oldest human imprints in Greece were found (130, 000 years old).
There is also the Meteora Natural History and Mushroom museum
Last but not least if time allows a visit to nearby Metsovo village can be an excellent addition to your tour.
